The first weekend, a few of us randomly caught a taxi to Sanlitun (foreigners and bars) and wandered around for a bit (I lied about club hitting). The rest of the week's work didn't leave much time for anything other than restaurant-hopping, but with the midweek calligraphy lesson and Great Wall trip on Saturday... I'm really starting to think PIB should do a better job advertising its excursions.
The excursions really don't compare to exploring the neighborhood with people, however. I don't really feel like writing very much right now, so here's a bunch of pictures with captions (a trend with this blog?). I figure if a picture is worth any number of words then I'm in decent shape anyway. There is this one group photo at Sanlitun that I wish I had... oh well.

Here are a few Yalies and non-Yalies at a nearby Sichuan place. Discovered on recommendation by the guy at the front desk of our dorm. Alicia saw a dog. |
Roommate 白乐 in the rain. The nearby "Friendship Restaurant" isn't as great as that umbrella, though. |

Gah how did I forget what this tea was called? It's a fruit tea that apparently Koreans drink a lot. Gah it was 55RMB gah. "Sculpting in time" is a really expensive coffee shop. |

Whatever this was (recommended by the waiter) it was really good. |
A decently expensive restaurant near the north gate that we were really cheap in. |
